Every study in this series began the old-fashioned way: with Scripture open, a question worth asking, and a desire to hear how the Church has answered it. What is new is the set of tools we used to listen.
The Catholic Church carries two thousand years of reflection on the Word of God. The Fathers of the Church, the great Doctors, the ecumenical councils, the Catechism, and the theologians of our own day form a library so vast that no one person could read it all in a lifetime. In preparing these studies, we used artificial intelligence as a research assistant to search that library: to surface what St. Augustine or St. John Chrysostom actually said about a passage, to locate the relevant paragraphs of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and to trace how a doctrine developed from the apostolic age to the present. The AI did not write our theology. It helped us find the Church’s.
Because these tools are powerful but imperfect, we placed strict guardrails around their use. Every patristic quotation and Catechism reference was required to be verified against its source, never invented or embellished. Where the Church has defined a matter, we state it plainly. Where she has not, we say so honestly and refuse to speak with more certainty than she does. Our standard throughout has been complete fidelity to Catholic doctrine as taught by the Magisterium, and nothing was permitted into these pages that could not stand under that light.
We also refused to trust any single tool. Each session was cross-examined by multiple independent AI systems, each tasked with hunting for error: doctrinal imprecision or heresy, overstated claims, misattributed quotations, and the fabrications (often called hallucinations) to which these systems are prone. Where the reviewers disagreed, a human being went back to the sources and settled the question.
Finally, these studies are being tested on people, not just machines. Trusted reviewers, faithful Catholics whose judgment we rely on, are working through the material in trial runs, session by session, flagging anything unclear, unbalanced, or unfaithful. Because the catalog has grown faster than any group can field-test it, this human review is ongoing rather than complete. Where reviewers or leaders find something that needs correction, we fix it and reissue the session.
