An inductive study of the book of Ezekiel in sixteen sessions of 75 to 90 minutes, written for a leader who is not a theologian. It opens by a canal in Babylon, where a deported priest sees the heavens open and a throne that moves, then turns in the second session to the scroll he is handed and told to eat, and it follows the question running under the whole book: where does God dwell. The first half walks a hard road, the watchman made responsible for warning and not for results, the glory leaving the temple gate by gate, the comfortable religious lies of whitewash and the idols already set up in the heart, the foundling bride loved before she was faithful, the soul that sins and the God who takes no pleasure in the death of anyone, and a history of rebellion met again and again by mercy given for the sake of God's own name. Session 9 is the hinge: Jerusalem falls, the prophet loses the delight of his eyes, and his mouth is opened for a new kind of message. The second half turns toward promise, judgement on the nations and the pride of Tyre, the false shepherds fired and God shepherding his people himself through my servant David, a new heart and a new spirit given rather than demanded, dry bones standing up as an army, the enemy from the north answered for a people just promised everlasting peace, the glory returning by the same east gate it left by, and a river flowing from the sanctuary until the city is renamed The LORD is there. On the first night each person seals a private answer to one question, where God will finally choose to dwell, and the envelopes open in Session 12. Every session carries Old Testament roots and their fulfillment, Voices of the Church labelled as either direct citation or honest summary, Catechism connections, a leader-only Thread Watch, and an Objection Bench for the questions a room may raise.
